2018 WOMEN'S DAY: Women commended for selfless service

Deputy Governor Martins Babale has described this year's International Women's Day celebration as unique because of the numerous contributions of women in different sectors of human endeavor.


Speaking at an event marking the 2018 Women's Day at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola, Babale said women are models that all must emulate, reassuring that the administration will always partner them towards achieving the dream of the Adamawa project.

With the theme; Press for Progress and a sub theme; Time is now, Rural and Urban Activists, Transforming Women's Lives, the International Women's Day is declared by the United Nations' General Assembly to celebrated achievements by women.


Deputy Governor Martins Babale confirms that women’s socio-economic empowerment is among the top priority of the state government, hence the need to include women in the process of governance.

Earlier on, Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aliyu Bello, describe women as pillars in the foundation and development of any community, and called on both public and private organizations to give priority to women in employment opportunities.

The Permanent Secretary, Women Affairs and Social Development, Maisaratu Bello, commended the state government for supporting all their activities as well as other organizations.

In their goodwill messages, representatives of various women groups commended Government for promoting women's engagement in peace and security in Nigeria.
